If you plan to visit Phuket, Thailand, and don’t know where to stay, we recommend the Anona Sunset Boutique – a luxury hotel (5 stars), close to the main beaches of the island’s west coast: Karon, Kata Noi, and Patong Beach. With excellent service and great facilities, the resort hotel is an option for couples seeking tranquility, away from the island’s hustle and bustle.
We were there in January/2025. I confess that, at first, it was difficult to choose a hotel in Phuket. The available options were either too expensive or too far from the beaches, and traffic in Phuket is quite heavy in certain stretches and times. We also didn’t want to stay in Patong, which is a very lively neighborhood in Phuket. When I found Anona Sunset Boutique, saw its photos, and read customer reviews, I had no doubt – this is where I want to stay! It wasn’t a cheap hotel, but the prices were much more reasonable than other hotels in the same category.
The Anona Sunset Boutique is the result of a partial split from Secret Cliff Resort & Restaurant, whose remaining part is located on the other side of the road. After renovation and remodeling, Anona Sunset Boutique was inaugurated in December 2024. It is, therefore, a practically new hotel.
It’s important to mention that there are two Anona hotels in Phuket: the Anona Sunset Boutique and the Anona Beachfront Phuket Resort. The latter is located on Patong Beach. Our recommendation is to stay at the first one.

Location
The hotel is located along highway 4030 (Phuket’s coastal road that connects various beaches on the island’s west coast), between Karon and Patong beaches. It’s in a mountainous region that separates these two beaches, and the hotel sits on the so called Karon Cliff.
It takes about 5 minutes by taxi or Bolt (an app equivalent to Uber) to reach either of these beaches. In Karon or Patong, you’ll find various restaurants, shops, pharmacies, and small markets, as well as ATMs to withdraw money if needed. The nightlife in these beaches is quite lively, so don’t forget to make your restaurant reservations in advance.
Unfortunately, you can’t walk to either Karon Beach or Patong. The highway is busy and there are no sidewalks or shoulders. By Bolt, the ride costs about 200 baht. The hotel provides transfers to Patong Beach, however, the times are limited.
Kata Noi is also a very pleasant beach, less crowded, just 15 minutes away by car to the south. It’s an option especially for families.
Facilities
As I mentioned earlier, the Anona Sunset Boutique is situated on a hill. The hotel reception is at the highest point and the restaurant at the lowest point of the cliff, very close to the sea.
The rooms are located between the reception and the restaurant, which means you need to go up or down a slope to do anything. However, the hotel offers a transport service with electric vehicles. Just call and in two minutes, a driver will be at your door.
The Anona Sunset Boutique offers the following facilities:
- Gym: located at the highest point, near the reception, it has treadmills and basic weight training equipment.
- Infinity Pool
- Cape Rock Restaurant: one of the highest-rated in the region, with a 4.9/5 rating on Google. This is where we have breakfast. The restaurant has a romantic dining table very close to the sea.
- 24-hour Reception.
The hotel also offers free Wi-Fi for all guests.
It’s important to mention that the hotel is located in a well-wooded and extremely pleasant area.
Rooms
The Anona Sunset Boutique has 8 room types. The accommodations are spacious, ranging from 45m² to 135m². Most of these have sea views, except for the Deluxe Garden View. Some have side views, others have front views of the ocean that borders Phuket’s west coast. Double and triple rooms are available.
We stayed in the Deluxe Jacuzzi Oceanfront, which has a jacuzzi on the terrace, plus sea views. The room is complete, with a mini-fridge, TV, air conditioning, safe, wardrobe, coffee machine, among other amenities. Everything of the highest quality.

The bed, very comfortable, is platform-style: low with a board under the mattress. If you don’t have one of these at home, be careful not to kick the platform!
Service
The service is undoubtedly the greatest strength of Anona Sunset Boutique. From arrival to checkout, the staff’s care for customers was exceptional. Always with a smile on their faces, helpful and friendly. That’s how the hotel staff are.
Upon arrival, to combat Phuket’s heat, we were welcomed with lemon and mango popsicles. Delicious!
In addition to early check-in (check-in should be from 3 PM), the manager even granted a complimentary upgrade to my father, who was traveling with us. Since his room was of a lower category than ours, the manager upgraded it so we wouldn’t be far from each other.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at the Cape Rock Restaurant. The tables are arranged in the outdoor area of the restaurant, where you can enjoy views of the ocean and even Karon Beach from afar.
The breakfast is very varied with breads, fruits, cheeses, eggs, juices and coffees, among other options. Each day, they usually offer a different type of Asian/Thai food. By the way, in Asia, it’s very common to have foods at breakfast that we usually eat for lunch or dinner, such as salads, dumplings, fried rice, chicken, pork, etc.
Price
On Booking.com, we found rates starting from USD$ 170.00 (5,743 baht) for the Deluxe Garden View double room, with non-refundable rate, breakfast included.
Although they may seem high at first glance, the prices are below those charged in Phuket for hotels of the same category. Considering the quality of service and facilities, Anona Sunset Boutique offers excellent value for money.
