In addition to the 10 hostels mentioned, it is important to mention the Sungate One Hostel, a highly rated hostel with an excellent location, just 200 meters from Plaza Puerta del Sol. The hostel belongs to the same chain as Hostel One (above).

At first, I removed it from the list because, on the dates surveyed (see above), the price of Sungate One Hostel was much higher than the other ones. It costs 47 euros to stay in a mixed dorm with 6 beds and a shared bathroom, which is almost a hotel’s price. However, you can search for other dates and find some prices in the range of 30 or even 20 euros.

The hostel has female-only rooms and rooms with just a few beds, for those who want more privacy. It’s rated 9.4 on Booking.com and awarded a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence. Of 335 reviews on Tripadvisor, 224 rated it as a very good or an excellent one.

Among the pros, visitors point out that the hostel promotes interaction between guests (parties, drinking games, etc.) and provides a complimentary dinner. In addition, they highly praise the staff, the location, the comfort, and the cleanliness of the hostel.
