Bangkok: 18 cheap and great value for money hotels

Wat Pho, Bangkok

Bangkok is an incredible metropolis: beautiful and chaotic. It is no wonder that every year Thailand’s capital is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. One of the reasons tourists choose Bangkok is because it is a relatively cheap destination. In Bangkok, you can stay in good or even luxurious hotels for a low price.

Wondering where to stay in Bangkok? Check out our selection of 18 good, well located, cheap and great value for money hotels.

1. Mandarin Hotel Managed by Centrepoint

Mandarin Hotel Managed by Centrepoint (also called Mandarin Hotel Bangkok) is a 4-star hotel, well located and which, in our opinion, offers the best deal in Bangkok. We stayed at this hotel in 2018 and report on our experience below.

The hotel is located on Rama IV avenue, close to the MRT Sam Yan subway station, making it easy to get to plenty of tourist attractions (such as Lumpini Park and Chatuchak Market). It’s not so far from Hua Lamphong train station where you can take a train to the old city of Ayuttaya.

The accommodation is also very close to Bangkok’s mall quarter. In a 10-minute walk, you will reach the MBK Center, the Siam Center, the Siam Discovery, or the Siam Paragon. In another 5-minute walk, you will be at Central World.

From the hotel, you also have easy access by taxi (or Grab app) to Chinatown, the Chinese quarter, and to Bangkok’s main attractions: the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

The hotel facilities are excellent. The rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable. They are equipped with a flat-screen TV, minibar and even microwave. The bathrooms have modern Japanese toilets. You will have to learn to use it! In addition, the hotel has a gym and a beautiful and pleasant outdoor pool. A spa is also available.

There are two restaurants at the hotel: Rodchana (for breakfast) and Krua Luang (for dinner). The breakfast is tasty and has a lot of western and Asian food options.

The staff is friendly and helpful. At the reception hall, be sure to refresh yourself with the flavored water.
